Residents of Nansledan have come together to set up their own community association that aims to bring people together, act as a voice for residents and businesses, and organise events and activities.
A small interim committee comprising a Chair (Theresa Ferguson, pictured right), Vice Chair (Jim Payton), Secretary (Kaya Leadsford) and Treasurer (Jane Combes) is working on getting the Nansledan Community Association up and running, including a new website that is being built by another Nansledan resident, Annalisa Mather (pictured left).
Theresa, who moved to Nansledan last July, said: “The community at Nansledan is really starting to grow and there have already been a few events and get-togethers, so this is a way of bringing people together and making sure we have a voice if there are things that we want to address as a community.
“We’d like to involve everyone who lives or works in Nansledan, not just residents, so in time we hope that local businesses will join the association when they locate here, and the school and Methodist Centre.”
Annalisa added: “We hope to have the new website up and running by the end of February and want it to become a real resource for the community and people who are thinking of moving to Nansledan.”
The Association’s committee will act on an interim basis for the first year, followed by a full Annual General Meeting and formal committee elections towards the end of this year.
With around 140 houses already completed, there are estimated to be more than 300 people living at Nansledan and the first retail and office businesses will soon be moving in. Morrish Builders expect to have commercial tenants in the ground floor space of their flagship Seahorse Building on the corner of Quintrell Road in early Spring.
There will be a variety of business and retail use among the five available spaces in this building.
