Nansledan has been officially honoured on the international stage for its work in delivering high-quality affordable homes.
The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) announced earlier this year that Nansledan had won the prestigious 2025 Gindroz Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing.
The award was officially presented on Saturday 8th November at the Gindroz Symposium on Affordable Housing, hosted by the ICAA in New York.
Representatives from the Duchy of Cornwall, the King’s Foundation, ADAM Architecture and Cornwall Council discussed the development and implementation of Nansledan. They were joined by past Award recipients on a panel to discuss the future of the design of communities with affordable housing.

Peter James, Nansledan Project Manager for the Duchy of Cornwall, said:
“We are immensely proud that Nansledan has been recognised with this prestigious international award. Affordable housing has been integral from the outset, and this recognition reinforces the importance of designing mixed communities where everyone benefits from the same high standards of quality, sustainability and local character. Taking part in the Gindroz Symposium has given us the opportunity to share what we’ve learned and to hear from others tackling similar challenges across the world. It has been inspiring, and we will bring that learning back to Cornwall as Nansledan continues to grow.”
Hugh Petter, Masterplanner for Nansledan and Design Director at ADAM Architecture, said:
“This recognition celebrates both the vision of the Duchy of Cornwall as our client, and the collaboration and dedication of the whole project team. Nansledan demonstrates that strategic masterplanning, long-term stewardship, and an understanding of local needs and local identity can lead to vibrant, sustainable and popular communities reinforced by social and economic sustainability and low carbon lifestyles. We may hope that the endorsement of Nansledan through this award will help us all to encourage others to embrace these principles to help tackle some of the profound housing issues of our time that sadly challenge every nation.”
The Gindroz Award recognises excellence in the design and implementation of affordable housing in the classical tradition. The award panel considers the unique challenges of designing and building high-quality affordable housing, project contexts, community engagement, social impact, and commitment to building neighbourhoods for all.
Nansledan was selected by the Gindroz Award panel for its deep commitment to providing affordable housing while placing people and environmental impact at the centre of the design process.
