The construction teams at Nansledan have been celebrating National Apprenticeship Week (March 5-9) and highlighting how an apprenticeship can be a pathway to a great career in construction.
Nansledan is leading a revival in the use of Cornish materials by employing local craftsmen passing down skills to the next generation through apprenticeships.
Nansledan is being built by a consortium of three South West building companies, working in partnership with the Duchy of Cornwall. They are CG Fry & Son, Morrish Builders and Wainhomes.
There are currently 25 apprentices and improvers working at Nansledan across the three housebuilders and their subcontractors.
By working with the same group of housebuilders for the lifetime of the project, the aim is to forge long-term relationships with local suppliers and craftsmen, training people in the use of local materials and crafts.
