The Duchy of Cornwall recently revealed striking designs for its much anticipated ‘Market Street’ development, at the heart of Nansledan.
The proposals seek to develop a vibrant and thriving shopping, lifestyle and leisure destination for Cornwall, to benefit local residents and the many year-round visitors to the area.
Views are now being sought from residents, businesses and other stakeholders, who will help shape the proposals for phase one, which includes an exciting new food hall. Gathering feedback at this early stage will help ensure that everyone can enjoy the thriving space that we are looking to create.
Interested parties are encouraged to have their say via a simple online questionnaire, which can be found by clicking this link. All responses will be treated confidentially, and the online submission will be open until 5pm on Friday 19th July.
Initial work has been carried out to develop concepts that will help the space showcase a number of Cornwall’s tastiest street food producers, so that residents and visitors can sample different things on offer and satisfy different taste buds each time they visit.
Sam Kirkness, Development Manager at the Duchy of Cornwall, said:
“We’re seeking the views of residents and other interested parties to really get a feel for what people hope to see from the latest exciting part of this project. Having our own market and food hall will provide a great option for residents, visitors, and local businesses in the area, helping to secure jobs and provide year-round interest at Nansledan.”
Nansledan will eventually have around 4,000 homes and has been designed by the Duchy of Cornwall as a sustainable urban extension to Newquay that can meet local housing needs and support local employment. More than 700 homes have been built so far, and Nansledan is already home to around 40 businesses.
