All 17 shops and offices built as part of the latest phase of Nansledan are now let or under offer, with more planned.
The latest commercial units have all been constructed by CG Fry & Son, who are part of the consortium of South West companies building Nansledan with the Duchy of Cornwall.
Building workspace in the early stages of the development of Nansledan is part of the Duchy’s ethos to create a mixed-use community with homes, shops, offices and public facilities all within walkable neighbourhoods.
A florist and home accessories shop called Home Nansledan is the latest business to open its doors having been set up late last year by Nansledan residents Aaron Smith and Matt Drohan, who moved to the development about a year ago,
Matt said: “We love Nansledan – there is such a community feel here and the fact that we can walk from our home to the shop in just a few minutes is ideal for us.”
Home Nansledan joins a diverse range of 10 other businesses that have opened in Nansledan in the last three years and includes everything from a bakery to a barber shop. Work on Nansledan’s Market Street, which will be the commercial heart of the development, is scheduled to start in the next two years and will provide a range of shops, offices and homes.
Ben Murphy, Estate Director at the Duchy of Cornwall, said: “We are delighted to see how popular the commercial premises are proving with so many local independent artisans setting up new businesses or relocating to this growing community. Providing local employment is vital to building a sustainable community at Nansledan, where people can walk to work and meet many of their daily needs on foot. We have many more commercial premises planned in future phases.”

Nansledan is being developed on Duchy-owned land to the east of Newquay and will eventually comprise around 4,000 new homes mixed with retail, offices, workshops, green spaces and a range of community facilities. It is being built by a consortium of South West building companies which includes Wainhomes, CG Fry & Son and Morrish Builders.
Work on Nansledan began in 2014 and 344 homes have been built so far. Skol Nansledan, a brand new primary school that will eventually cater for 420 pupils, opened last year.
