Nansledan’s brand new pumptrack will be officially opened on Saturday 31st August with a Skate Jam featuring live music, rider demos, competitions, prizes and food and drink. And everyone is invited.
The jam will be hosted by Maverick Skateparks, who have built the new track on behalf of the Duchy of Cornwall, which is developing Nansledan as a sustainable extension to Newquay.
The jam will run from 11am to 4pm on 31st August with demos, sessions and informal competitions for scooter, skate and BMX for all age groups. Keep an eye on the Nansledan Instagram account for exact timings. All the competitions are designed to be fun, inclusive, and definitely no pressure.
The new track has been built behind Nansledan’s primary school, Skol Nansledan, off William Hosking Road. It adjoins ‘Slynk’ (which is Cornish for ‘slide’), the latest in a series of six adventure playgrounds being built by the Duchy of Cornwall at Nansledan, which has just opened. There is also a brand new basketball court nearby.
Sam Kirkness, Nansledan Development Manager at the Duchy of Cornwall, said: “The new pumptrack is just fantastic and we are delighted to see so many children and adults already enjoying it throughout the day. We hope to see riders of all ages from across Nansledan, Newquay and beyond come along to the Skate Jam and give it a go. And with the neighbouring adventure playground and basketball court also open, it’ll be a great day out for all the family.”
